Caption: Plant growing towards a light source, time-lapse footage. The ability of plants to grow towards a light source is known as positive phototropism. This directional plant growth in response to light is regulated by photoreceptors and plant hormones such as auxin. Auxin is produced in the apical bud of the shoot. Increased growth on the side of the stem opposite the light source causes the new growth to bend towards the light source.
