Caption: Changuinola virus. Coloured transmission electron micrograph of Changuinola virus particles (virions). Each particle consists of a protein coat (capsid, yellow) surrounding double-stranded ribonucleic acid (RNA), the virus' genetic material. The Changuinola virus is an arbovirus (arthropod-borne virus) and is transmitted to humans by the sandfly Lutzomyia sp. Changuinola virus has been linked to a single documented case of an acute self-limited febrile (characterised by fever) illness in Changuinola, Panama.
