Caption: Small columnar prismatic crystals of Aquamarine, a mineral that is a variety of Beryl. Beryl is a beryllium aluminium cyclosilicate (Be3Al2 (SiO3)6 and has a hexagonal crystal system. Beryl is formed under high P/T conditions, most often in pegmatite. When pure it is colourless, but two well-known coloured varieties are Aquamarine (blue to cyan) and Emerald (green)
