These illustrations precede page 17 of volume 1, and accompany issue 2, dated 3 April 1665. The illustrations show the mines of mercury in Friuli, as described by Walter Pope. The mines are described on pages 21-26, with the detailed description of these diagrams appearing on pages 25 and 26.
