Caption: Illustration page from Philosophical Transactions. Fold-out page with illustrations and diagrams from a 1667 issue of 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London'. These illustrations precede page 369 of volume 1, and accompany issue 21, dated 21 January 1667. The illustrations accompany an account of 'Monsieur Hevelius's calculation of the late solar eclipse's quantity, duration etc.' This communication was sent to the Royal Society by Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius. The illustration shows both a solar eclipse main diagram) and a lunar eclipse (upper right). The observations relating to the diagrams are on pages 370-371.
