Caption: Illustration page from Philosophical Transactions. Page with illustrations and diagrams from a 1667 issue of 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London'. These illustrations precede page 473 of volume 2, and accompany issue 26, dated 3 June 1667. The illustrations are for a review of a book on China by German Jesuit scholar Athanasius Kircher. The upper illustration shows a large arch bridge, an example of the advanced engineering capabilities of China. The lower illustration shows part of the Great Wall of China.
