Caption: Barbara Kegerreis Lunde (born 1937), American physicist and engineer, talking with colleagues at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland, USA. Lunde was only the second woman to receive a PhD in physics from Iowa State University. During her time at Iowa she was the engineer for the construction of two commercial radio stations, which she operated for 12 years. While at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Lunde designed guidance systems for the Minuteman missile, receiving two patents for her instruments. Lunde was a project manager at NASA between 1961 and 1965. Photographed in 1964.
