Caption: Scorpion fish and coral under UV light. Some species of coral fluoresce under blue ultraviolet (UV) light as seen in the background. The scorpion fish (Scorpaenopsis sp.) does not fluoresce. It is thought the glow may attract symbiotic algae, or protect the coral from the intense UV light of the Sun in shallow water. Photographed in Thailand.
