Caption: Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Tip of a dental drill bit with diamond chips. Dental drill bits are made of hard metal alloy (small rotary files) known as 'burs'. Dental burs come in a great variety of shapes designed for specific dental applications. They are often made of steel with a tungsten carbide coating, or entirely of tungsten carbide. The bur may also have diamond chips embedded in a coating. Magnification: x5 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
