Caption: BepiColombo spacecraft acoustic test. Full BepiColombo stack seen in the Large European Acoustic Facility (LEAF) at ESA's test centre at ESTEC, the Netherlands. The walls of the chamber are fitted with powerful speakers that reproduce the noise during launch. From bottom to top: the Mercury Transfer Module, the Mercury Planetary Orbiter, and the sun shield, within which sits the Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter. BepiColumbo is a joint mission of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to explore Mercury. Scheduled for launch in 2018, it will arrive at Mercury in 2025. it has three components: ESA's Mercury Transfer Module (MTM), ESA's Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO) and JAXA's Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter (MMO).
