Caption: Emily Cleveland Davis (1898-1968), US author. Davis attended American University in the early 1920s before becoming the Science Service archaeology editor from 1926 to 1941. Science Service was an organisation dedicated to informing the public of the latest scientific discoveries and achievements. Davis co-authored 'Magic Spades: The Romance of Archeology' (1929) and authored 'Ancient Americans: The Archeological Story of Two Continents' (1931). During the 1940s, she worked for the US Department of Agriculture.
