Caption: Trilobite fossil. Fossil of a Neoasaphus punctatus trilobite. This bottom dwelling marine arthropod inhabited seas around 430 million years ago during the Ordovician period of the Palaeozoic era. It scavenged for food on the seabed. This specimen measures 4.5 centimetres in length and was found in Russia.
