Caption: Light micrograph of a thin section of bronze. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin, although many 'bronzes' today are only called such because they exhibit a bronze-like crystalline structure. Bronze is used extensively in castings, notably statues. Industrial bronzes may contain phosphorus, silicon or aluminium to further modify the alloy's behaviour. Magnification x62 at 6x4.5cm size.
