Caption: Elisabeth Schwarzhaupt (1901-1986), German politician. Schwarzhaupt, whose background was in law, was the Federal Minister of Health in the German cabinet from 1961 to 1966. She was the first woman to hold a ministerial position in West Germany. During her time as minister she helped to tightened medicine and food hygiene standards.
