Caption: Attempted assassination of Queen Victoria 1882. Illustration of the attempted assassination of Queen Victoria by Robert Maclean (centre right) at Windsor Railway Station, UK, on 2nd March 1882. This was the 7th attempt on Victoria's life during her reign. Maclean was a disgruntled poet apparently offended by Victoria's refusal to accept one of his poems. He was tried for high treason and found 'not guilty, but insane.
