Caption: Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis). This medium-sized burrowing crab has furry claws, which resemble mittens. It is native to the coastal estuaries of eastern Asia from Korea in the north to the Fujian province of China in the south. It is now present in Europe and North America where it is considered an invasive species. This specimen was collected in 2002 from a Hong Kong Market, and is prepared for eating.
