Caption: Lina Solomonova Stern (1878-1968), Soviet physiologist and biochemist. Stern was professor of physiology at the University of Moscow, where she carried out pioneering research on the blood-brain barrier. This photograph dates from her attendance at the Ninth International Congress of Psychology, New Haven, Connecticut, held from 2-7 September 1929.
