Walter Alvarez (born 1940) is a US geologist and son of Luis Alvarez (1911-1988), a US experimental physicist and inventor. Richard Muller (born 1944) began his career as a physicist by working under Luis Alvarez as a graduate student. Luis Alvarez won the 1968 Nobel prize for his detection of short-lived resonance subatomic particles formed in particle accelerators. Photographed in 1985, in Bohemian Grove, California.
