Caption: Electrolysis of sodium chloride solution. Sodium chloride (salt) solution in a beaker with an electric current being passed through it between two electrodes (small silver wires, centre left and right). This process produces chlorine gas at the positive electrode (anode), and hydrogen gas at the negative electrode (cathode), leaving sodium hydroxide solution in the beaker. Both gases can be seen as bubbles and are being collected in the two upturned test tubes.

Release details: Model release not available. Property release not required.
