Caption: Viktor Ambartsumyan and Grigor Gurzadyan, Soviet-Armenian astrophysicists. Viktor Ambartsumyan (1908-1996, left) was president of the Armenian Academy of Sciences. Grigor Gurzadyan (born 1922, right) was at this time a corresponding member of the Armenian Academy of Sciences. Both were founder members of the Byurakan Observatory, of which Ambartsumyan was the first director. Photographed in Armenia, in 1976.
