Caption: Moscow riverboats and Peter the Great Statue. Passenger boats on the Moscow River near Prechistenskaya Embankment, with the Peter the Great Statue, in Moscow, Russia. This monument to the Russian Tsar Peter the Great (1672-1725) was erected in 1997 to commemorate 300 years of the Russian Navy. Made of steel, bronze and copper, it is 98 metres tall and weighs around 1000 tons. In the background is the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (consecrated in 2000). Photographed on 22 May 2017.
