Caption: Northern gannet in flight. Juvenile Northern gannet (Morus bassanus) flying over the North Sea. Young Northern gannets are dark brown in their first year, and gradually acquire more white until they reach maturity after five years. Adult birds are white with black-tipped wings. Photographed off the coast of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, in August.
