Caption: Amphistome fluke. Light micrograph of a transverse section through an adult amphistome fluke (Megalodiscus temperatus). This parasitic worm's ventral sucker is seen at the top of the image (pink oval) and its oral sucker at the bottom (pink). The adult lives in the rectum of frogs or in the pyloric ceca (digestive enzyme secreting organs) of several fish species, including trout. Magnification: x23 when printed at 10 centimetres tall. Stained with Gower's Carmine.
