Caption: Diver returning fish raised in an aquarium to the sea. The fish were collected from the Mediterranean Sea at the post-larval stage. Post-larvae have a mortality rate of 95 per cent, so capturing them at this stage allows more to survive and is a sustainable process. The fish are used to repopulate areas, such as harbours, that have seen a decrease in fish numbers. This technique is known as post-larval capture and culture (PCC).
