Caption: Property map for New Amsterdam. 17th-century cadastral (property) map of the original grants of village lots from the Dutch West India Company to the inhabitants of New Amsterdam (later New York), on the southern tip of Manhattan Island, in the colony of New Netherland. The grants are shown from the year 1642 onwards. The map includes the dimensions of the lots, the names of the property owners, and the years of the grants after 1642 (up to 1658). The map is orientated with north towards upper right. The North River and East River are also marked, as well as Fort Amsterdam (centre left).
