Both these bridges span the river Tyne and connect the cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead. The High Level Bridge was designed by Robert Louis Stephenson and built by the Hawks family. It was opened on 27th September 1849. The wing bridge was opened on 15th June 1876.
