Caption: Talaiotic prehistoric tower, Menorca. This stone tower (talaiot) is part of the prehistoric Talaiotic site of Torrellonet Vell, on the Mediterranean island of Menorca, Spain. This site dates from around the 2nd century BC. The Talaiotic culture arose on Mallorca and Menorca during the second millennium BC, ending in the first millennium BC with the rise of the Roman and Carthaginian empires. Photographed in 2009.
