Caption: Talaiotic artefact, Menorca. Wooden punch found at the base of a Talaiotic prehistoric tower (talaiot). This punch was found during excavations at the site of Cornia, near Mao on the Mediterranean island of Menorca, Spain. The Talaiotic culture arose on Mallorca and Menorca during the second millennium BC, ending in the first millennium BC with the rise of the Roman and Carthaginian empires. Photographed in 2009.
