Kawasaki disease. Inflamed wrist and hand of a 6-year-old girl with Kawasaki disease. This is a rare condition, usually affecting young children, in which blood vessels become inflamed leading to fever and generalised oedema. Little is known about the condition, but complications include heart disease and aneurysm (weakened arteries). Aspirin has shown some efficacy as treatment.
