Caption: Parker Solar Probe preparation. Parker Solar Probe being prepared for environment testing in Acoustic Test Chamber at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Maryland, USA. The Parker Solar Probe is a NASA robotic spacecraft designed to probe the outer corona of the Sun. It is scheduled for launch on 31st July 2018. During launch Parker will undergo both intense vibration from the physical forces of the rocket engines, as well as acoustic effects from the sound of the engines and the rocket going through the atmosphere. The Acoustic Test Chamber replicates these conditions in order to test that its systems and components can endure them and operate as designed.
