Caption: Light micrograph of a section through a Pentium 2 central processing unit (CPU) assembly. A small part of a printed circuit board (PCB) was embedded in light curing resin and then ground and diamond polished. The image shows two epoxy basic material layers with glass reinforcement filaments in linen weave. The first layer at the top of the image with 8 layers of copper shows blue fluorescence. The second layer at the bottom of the image with 6 very thin copper layers shows no blue fluorescence. Microscopic contrast technique: Incident brightfield combined with UV excitation fluorescence. Magnification: 50x when printed 10 centimetres wide.
