Caption: Light micrograph of a section through a computer printed circuit board (PCB) with surface mounted ceramic capacitor. A small part of a PCB was embedded in light curing resin and then ground and diamond polished. The image shows the basic epoxy material of the PCB with glass reinforcement filaments in linen weave in blue color with four copper layers of the multilayer. A ceramic capacitor in cross section is visible on the upper side of the PCB, showing the interior composition of the capacitor with thin metal plates separated by ceramic material. Microscopic contrast technique: Incident brightfield combined with UV excitation fluorescence. Magnification: 50x when printed 10 centimetres wide.
