Caption: Psychic photograph. Thoughtograph produced by British spiritualist Charles Lacey in the period 1894 to 1898. This is an albumen and gelatin silver print, with the ghostly figure of a human visible at centre. Spiritualists and psychics used the new medium of photography to produce such images that they claimed showed the effect or presence of human thoughts or spirits.
