Caption: Apollo 12 official crew badge. This official crew insignia names the crew of the 'Apollo XII' mission. The clipper ship signifies that the crew is all Navy and symbolically relates the era of the clipper ship to the era of space flight (the mission's command module was named 'Yankee Clipper'). The portion of the moon shown is representative of the Ocean of Storms area in which Apollo 12 landed. Apollo 12 took place from 14-24 November 1969. It was the second manned mission to land on the Moon, with Charles 'Pete' Conrad and Alan Bean descending to the lunar surface on 19 November 1969. The third crew member, Richard Gordon, remained in lunar orbit in the command module. Image published in September 1969.
