Caption: Kilauea eruption fissure. Aerial photograph of a fissure that opened during an eruptive episode on Kilauea, a volcano on the main island of Hawaii. This activity is part of the 2018 lower Puna eruption that began in May 2018. This is fissure 16, seen on 12 May 2018 at 08:27 local time (Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time). This fissure is located about 1.3 kilometres north-east of fissure 15 (smoke at top left). The fissure is located 500 metres north-east of the Puna Geothermal Venture site (top right).
