This lander spacecraft, built by Masten Space Systems for NASA, is a test for the Lander Vision System (LVS) to be used for the Mars 2020 mission. The LVS system will be able to analyse the landing target and guide the Mars 2020 lander to a suitable landing area. The Mars 2020 mission, scheduled for launch in 2020, is aimed at placing the Mars 2020 rover on the surface of Mars. It is part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program. Photographed on 9 December 2014.
