This specimen has the catalogue number KNM-ER 732. It was discovered in 1970 at the Koobi Fora site in Kenya. It is around 1.7 million years old. It is a female specimen, with a cranial capacity of 500 cubic centimetres. This species has also been known as Australopithecus boisei.
