Gas monitoring on Mauna Loa volcano, 2015. US geochemist replacing and recalibrating gas sensors at a fumarole on the Mauna Loa volcano, in Hawaii. These sensors were placed on Mauna Loa in late 2005 by Hawaii Volcano Observatory scientists to continuously monitor the concentration of carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide gases, and the fumarole temperature within Mokuaweoweo, the summit caldera.
