Venous malformations on the buttocks of a 21-year-old woman. Multiple cutaneous and mucosal venous malformations (also known as VMCM) are bluish lesions on the skin and the mucous membranes, such as the lining of the mouth and nose. They are areas where the underlying blood vessels did not develop properly. The condition is inherited, and as affected individuals age, the lesions can grow and become painful, and new lesions may appear.
