Caption: Feather duster worm (family Sabellidae) on the seabed photographed under white light. These polychaete worms live in tubes constructed from sand, held together with a glue secreted by their bodies. Their feathery plumes emerge from the tubes to filter the water for nutrients. Under blue light, certain pigments within some underwater organisms such as this cause them to emit a fluorescent glow, in this case yellow. This image is part of a series showing the identical specimen in white light and blue light. Photographed in the Red Sea, Egypt.
