Caption: Plant growth school experiment. Schoolchild observing coloured lights being used with tulips in an experiment on plant growth. The growth of plants depends on the amount, type and duration of light they are exposed to. Red and blue light are best for plant growth. Blue light encourages leaf growth, while red and blue light combined encourages flower growth. Green light is reflected by the plant. Flower development is also controlled by the duration of uninterrupted darkness (the photoperiod), with constant light disrupting flowering.
