Caption: Bee, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Bees belong to the superfamily Apoidea and are closely related to wasps and ants. Here, the head is at upper right, with the wings at upper left. Behind the head is the thorax, with six legs attached. At lower left is the abdomen. Bees feed on the nectar and pollen produced by flowering plants. They are important pollinators of these plants, carrying pollen between them on their hairy bodies and back legs.
