Caption: Bee, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Bees belong to the superfamily Apoidea and are closely related to wasps and ants. This bee's large compound eyes (orange) and antennae are seen on its head (upper centre). Below the head is its thorax, with six legs attached. One of the wings is at lower left. Bees feed on the nectar and pollen produced by flowering plants. They are important pollinators of these plants, carrying pollen between them on their hairy bodies and back legs.
