Caption: Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano research base. This is an Institute of Volcanology research base near the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano. This volcano, seen erupting at top, is on the Kamchatka Peninsula, in the Russian Far East. It is a stratovolcano, and the tallest active volcano in Eurasia, reaching an elevation of 4750 metres above sea level. Photographed on 7 February 1992.
