Caption: Close-up of the palate (roof) of the mouth of an elderly male cancer patient, whose skin has been removed to surgically reconstruct his lower eyelids (ten days post-operative). This patient had squamous cell carcinoma (cancer) of the mouth. Following radiotherapy, the patient developed thyroid eye disease requiring skin grafting from his mouth to his eyelids. (see image 1 showing reconstructed eyelids).
