Caption: Adrenal gland tumour. Light micrograph of a section through an adrenal gland containing a cortical adenoma (dark spherical mass at left). Adenomas are benign (non-cancerous) tumours that arise from glandular tissue. The adrenal glands are found on top of the kidneys. They are part of the endocrine system, releasing hormones such as cortisol into the bloodstream. The majority of cortical adenomas are asymptomatic.
