Caption: Charlevoix crater, satellite image. The Charlevoix meteor impact crater (centre) is a highly eroded crater situated in Quebec, Canada. Only part of the crater is exposed at the surface, the rest being covered by the Saint Lawrence River (blue, right). The original crater is thought to have been 54 kilometres in diameter. It is thought to date from around 330-360 million years ago, during the early Carboniferous period (Mississippian).
