A U.S. scientist has created samples of outer space in a ten metre long "bottle" called the Large Plasma Device (LAPD). This machine uses magnets to heat up atoms to temperatures so high, they lose their electrons and produce massively hot ionised gas, or plasma - the most common form of matter in space.
