Space satellites the size of soccer balls that fly in formation could become the future of satellite communication and astronomy. A team from the Space Systems Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, has successfully built and tested five tiny satellites known as the Synchronized Position Hold Engage Re-orient Experimental Satellites, or SPHERES.
