Fleas are a rare resource. Used for scientific research, fleas sell at a price three times higher per gram that gold bullion. But not for much longer. An American veterinary scientist Dr Jay Georgi has invented a new machine called 'the artificial dog', which is used to breed fleas under controlled conditions. it looks nothing like its namesake. it is a clear acrylic box in which the flea finds everything it needs to breed; warmth, blood to feed on, and lots of other fleas. The fleas are certainly happy - they produce 12,000 offspring per day.
